Jean’s Cranberry Relish

My Bonny Doon neighbor, Jean Smith, shared her family recipe with me.   Jean was a longtime member of the Ladies of Bonny Doon. She prepared the relish every holiday; one year she made relish for all of those who attended the Habitat for Humanity holiday dinner.

Boil the first five ingredients for 10 minutes.

  • 1 quart (4 cups) cranberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 orange diced thinly
  • 1 cup of raisins (golden raisers are prettier)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
At the end add the nuts.

Makes 4-5 cups
